Hayward Compression Fitting Assembly, SPX1485DA

The Hayward SPX1485DA is the genuine compression fitting assembly for Hayward side mount sand filters, supplied with its gasket. Hayward lists it against the S-200 and S-240 filters and the Pro Series side mount range, S-210S, S-220S, S-244S, S-310S and S-360S.

Where it sits

Side mount sand filters plumb through fittings on the tank wall rather than through a top mounted valve. Those fittings live under system pressure every time the pump runs, and the compression seal is what keeps the water inside.

Why they fail

Gaskets and compression seals harden with heat, chlorine and age. The first sign is usually a slow weep that dries to a white crust, which people miss until the pad is wet. Once a fitting starts, tightening it further tends to crush the seal rather than stop the leak, and the assembly is the correct repair.

Confirm the leak is at the compression fitting and not at the tank bulkhead or a tank o-ring before ordering, since those are separate Hayward parts.
